INSTRUCTIONS
The pheromones are impregnated into the surface of the lures. Do not puncture the lures; they work just as they are. Keep them dry at all times and store in the freezer when not in use.
Load the appropriate pheromone lure into the cage at the top of the funnel trap. The chamber of the trap should be filled with water to a depth of about 2-3cm. This helps to keep the moths in the trap and they seem to come to no harm if the trap is checked daily.
The apparatus should be moved around different habitats as illustrated in the table below.
Please forward reports of successful captures to me at the email address:

Results of the project will be reported at www.yorkshiremoths.org.uk
| Date | Habitat | Lure | Target Species |
| 19th May - 9th June | Light woodland with birch stumps. | MYO | Large Red-belted Clearwing |
| 9th June - 30th June | Allotments and fruit gardens. | TIP | Currant Clearwing |
| 30th June - 21st July | Light woodland and gardens where Wych Elm, oaks, birches and cherries are grown. | VES | Yellow-legged Clearwing |
| 21st July - 11th August | Osiers and other willows growing in damp or marshy ground. | MYO+TIP+VES | Red-tipped Clearwing |
I am almost certain that you will be successful with the Currant Clearwing especially if you ask a local allotment holder to host your trap for a few days in late June. It will also be interesting to see how often Yellow-legged Clearwing turns up.
The remaining two species are more difficult but worth looking for.
